Item Description
A wonderful full cabinet sized RICH specimen of Microlite dating back to a discovery in the 1980s at the famous Ipê mine in Brazil. The top specimens from this mine are among the finest quality (despite their small size) Microlite crystals you'll find. The piece is loaded with literally hundreds if not thousands of very small (the species is called Microlite for a reason) golden-orange colored, sparkling crystals which can be seen on all sides. There is certainly a layered form to the piece, and if you look closely, there's nearly a Microlite on almost every square millimeter. I realize the crystals are small, but the density of Microlites on one specimen like this is significant in my mind. It's not often that a cabinet piece is also a "micro" specimen, but this is certainly a great opportunity to pick up a wonderful representation of this less common oxide species. I have this listed as "Microlite Group", but the mineral Microlite has been discredited, and we haven't had this analyzed to know specifically which species it could be, but I would guess it's probably Fluorcalciomicrolite.
