Item Description
Amazonite is the blue-green variety of Microcline, and some of the best-known crystallized examples are those from the central pegmatite regions of Colorado. For many decades, the pegmatites around the Florissant / Lake George area of Colorado have produced what collectors and dealers know to be the finest Amazonite specimens from the standpoint of color, quality, wonderful display specimens and excellent associations. Here we have an eye-catching toenail sized specimen featuring a sharp, well-formed, vivid blue-green color Amazonite crystal with distinctive, rare and highly sought after white "stripes" on the prims faces of the crystal. These "stripes" form as a secondary deposition (epitactic) of Feldspar on top of the original Amazonites to create a beautiful two-tone effect. No major damage that I can find, just a few minor imperfections, and obviously the underside of the piece is incomplete where it was separated from the matrix. Don't miss out on this great Colorado classic.
