Microcline var: Amazonite with Smoky Quartz and rare TOURMALINE association

Item Description

Amazonite specimens from the around the Pikes Peak Batholith in central Colorado are renowned for their excellent color and crystal form, and they are most often seen in association with Smoky Quartz and sometimes Albite. THIS piece is notably rare as it features tiny black acicular crystals of Tourmaline (presumably Schorl, but it could be something rarer like Foitite). The main focus of the piece is obviously the sharp, well-formed, blocky, rich blue-green colored Amazonite and the accompanying Smoky Quartz is a great touch, but if you look closely on select prism faces, you can see the little Tourmaline crystals, which we've photographed with a macro lens to better illustrate them. A cool rarity from this famous specimen-producing area in Colorado.
