Item Description

Amazonite is the blue-green variety of Microcline, and the numerous granitic pegmatites around the Lake George / Crystal Peak area of central Colorado have produced the most iconic specimens in the world. These pieces are beloved for their superior color, quality, wonderful display specimens and classic associations. This is a fine crystal of this classic material featuring an excellent, sharp, well-formed, vivid blue-green color prismatic Amazonite crystals which show unusual white "stripes" along the prism faces, and the upper corner of the termination. A VERY small percentage of Amazonites feature these "stripes" on the crystals, and when you find them on such richly colored crystals, it's even rarer. Beautiful material, and a truly unique style for Feldspar, as you almost never see such a stark contrast of colors like this from anywhere else.
This piece is from the collection of Brian Kosnar.
