Item Description

This might be only the second piece of this material that we've had to offer in the auctions. I honestly have only encountered a select few of them over the years. They are certainly RARE on the market, and if you're a fan of Feldspars or if you have a suite of minerals from Mount Malosa, this is a must-have piece to add to your collection. These distinctive Amazonite specimens truly don't resemble any others I've seen, as the majority of the crystals are a soft beige-white hue, but select faces / spots display the classic blue-green color for which Amazonite is known. This piece features a group of sharp, lustrous, well-formed thin prismatic crystals measuring up to 2.0 cm, free of matrix. No major damage that I can see. A really cool specimen that is almost impossible to find on the market these days.
From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#29 ML), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel. We at The Arkenstone have the privilege of offering the remainder of this great worldwide collection over the next two to three years through our various platforms.
