Item Description
Although this remarkable pegmatitic feldspar lcoale produces HUGE amazonite crystals, they are usually not specimen worthy and in fact are most often cleaved up for lapidary use. So as opposed to merely HUGE, tis is rather a LARGE crystal in terms of what we like as specimen collectors. It is remarkably sharp and finely formed for the locality, and as you can see it has slightly different, more pointed form than any I have seen from Colorado. It has a full termination on the large crystal that tapers to a chisel point atop. At 13 cm in length, this lustrous blue green amazonite crystal is about maximal for any other location, to be sure. It is complete on the front as you can see, and is contacted on the back side (where it grew against something else and came off cleanly but irregularly), which is not evident from the display side in any case. I personally think this is a magnificent crystal, and value it highly. If it were from Colorado, it would be over ten thousand dollars, assuredly. In any case, it is impressive, big, important, and quite beautiful.
