Item Description
The pegmatites near the Lake George area of Colorado have produced what are considered to be the finest Amazonite specimens from the standpoint of superb color, display quality, and excellent associations. This particular old-time specimen features a large, 10.3 cm Amazonite crystal with a single, partially-contacted Smoky Quartz attached at just the right angle. The green-blue color of the Amazonite crystal is excellent, and the faces have the preferential coating of white Microcline that elevates the aesthetics and desireabily of the Amazonite to another level. There is even an Amazonite sidecar just opposite the Smoky that nicely frames the main crystal and adds balance to an already very good aeshthetic. This is a fine cabinet specimen from one of the most storied and well-known districts in Colorado.
