Item Description

A stout, well-formed, blocky amazonite crystal has rich blue-green color. This is BRAZILIAN, not from Colorado or Ethiopia as you might think on first sight! The primary face is dramatically highlighted by alternating stripes of amazonite and microcline. The moderately lustrous crystal is partially translucent, adding character. One side hosts embedded albite and another has a 3.2 cm section of a smoky quartz crystal. This less well-known Minas Gerais pegmatite has given up few fine crystals, but has ironically produced large amounts of rough material for the lapidary and carving trade. This uncommon and colorful crystal is from recent finds at the locale and it comes from a pegmatite, which is itself also unusual.
