Item Description

Amazonite is named after the Amazon River, but it's not an actual species, rather the blue/green variety of the Feldspar species, Microcline. The various granitic pegmatite localities in Park and Teller Counties in central Colorado are famous for producing some of the world's finest crystals of Amazonite. This piece is a classic, thick, blocky single crystal of this classic material featuring sharp, well-formed face and a saturated blue-green color. A tiny bit of attached Smoky Quartz can be seen on the reverse side of the specimen. Showy, classic material, some of the most colorful examples of any Feldspar you'll find from anywhere.
