Microcline var: Amazonite

Item Description

In the early 2000s, these attractive Amazonite crystals starting appearing on the market from Ethiopia, which was certainly an unlikely source for mineral specimens at the time. They compare favorably to the famous Amazonite crystals from around the Pikes Peak Batholith in Colorado in terms of crystal form and color, but they were fairly short-lived and now are fairly hard to find on the market. This piece is a wonderful example of these beautiful crystals, as it shows smooth, sharp, well-formed faces and a classic blue-green color. The piece is in good condition overall, but the left side is contacted, so it's not 100% damage free. Small "flower"-like groups of off-white colored Albite var: Cleavelandite can be seen for a nice touch. If you missed out on these years ago, this is a good opportunity to pick up a nice representative example of these lovely Amazonite specimens for your collection.
