Item Description

PLEASE NOTE: This specimen was originally labeled as "Adularia" in Kurt's collection catalogue, but I can't find a report of Adularia from the area, though Microcline has been found in multiple localities. It should also be noted that traditionally the Entia Valley is used as a locality designation, but the entry on mindat.org mentions this is referred to as the Entia Dome area. There are many different localities in the Entia Dome area, including many pegmatites that have produced attractive, well-crystallized specimens. This piece is a showy and fine quality group of blocky, porcelain-esque, sharp, well-formed white Microcline crystals, free of matrix. Overall, the piece is in good condition, though there are some areas of incomplete/interrupted growth on the back. It's the only specimen of Microcline I can remember having to offer from the area, and if you collect worldwide Feldspars, this is a good quality example to add to your collection.
From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#129 A), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel. We at The Arkenstone have the privilege of offering the remainder of this great worldwide collection through our various platforms.
