Item Description
This is a wonderful showy display specimen from one of the most storied and well known districts in Colorado. The pegmatites all over the Pikes Peak Batholith have given collectors and dealers some of the finest Amazonite (the blue-green variety of Microcline) in the world specimens from the standpoint of color, quality and morphology. This piece is an aesthetic specimen of beige colored Microcline (with some slight reddish coloring on select faces) featuring sharp, well-formed, blocky prismatic crystals free of matrix. The largest Microcline measures 7.0 cm long. I love how the piece sits so beautifully on its own without the aid of a base or clay, and the arrangement of the crystals makes for such an eye-catching overall specimen. The piece came with a small note that states it was collected in 1950 and had an original price of only $10!
