Item Description
When it comes to specimens from Millar's Mine, very little is available on the market. This former radioactive mineral and phosphate prospect was opened around 1900, but is now completely reclaimed and non-existent. This specimen is one of the best Microcline crystals we've seen from the locality in terms of size and quality. This large, robust, well-formed, sharp, eye-catching cabinet sized display specimen features prismatic crystals of a soft peach-beige hue associated with a bit of a dark green Amphibolite mineral (possibly Hornblende) free of matrix. The front / display side of the crystal is complete and undamaged, though the back has a separation mark where it clearly was intergrown with another Microcline at one point. You might think that the piece looks "dull" in terms of luster, but when it's rotated in the light, you can see some good reflective faces, especially on the prism. There is a beautiful twin line that runs the length of the specimen, from top to bottom, making this not only a large Microcline, but a fantastic twinned crystal as well. If you collect worldwide Feldspars, Canadian minerals or simply fine display specimens from uncommon localities, do not miss out on this one. Priced in the inventory at $1,400.
