Item Description
Here is something for Feldpsar collectors out there. This specimen is from a find in Pakistan in the late Fall of 2008. This is something that is not often seen from Pakistan. This specimen is a fine quality, sharp, lustrous, rather gemmy, white/colorless "Baveno" twinned crystal of Microcline which is included with slender crystals of possibly Schorl(?). "Baveno" twins occur in Feldspars and are usually quite scarce. The twin crystals are elongated along the b axis, and the twinning plane, a diagonal one, runs through opposite edges of the prismatic crystal. The name of this twin comes from the locality in Italy where this twin was first observed. These twins are very hard to come by from Pakistan. This piece is a top quality "Baveno" twin with super luster that truly looks better in person than the photos indicate.
