Item Description
Here is something for the Feldpsar collectors out there. This specimen is from a find in Pakistan around of 2003. This is something that is not often seen from Pakistan. This specimen features a 6.1 cm fine quality, sharp, lustrous, porcelain-esque "Carlsbad" twinned crystal of Microcline associated with smaller polysynthetic twinned (sometimes called the "Albite" law of twinning) crystals of Albite. I originally thought this was Microcline on Microcline, but when they fluoresced different colors, we knew they had to be different species. "Carlsbad" twins occur in Feldspars and are usually quite scarce in this size and quality. The twin crystals have an irregular composition surface separating two individual crystals. These are defined by a twin center or twin axis on the Carlsbad Law with [001] as the twin axis. These twins are very hard to obtain from Pakistan. This piece is a good quality "Carlsbad" twin with good luster and great aesthetics. Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock, priced at $750 from years ago, and worth more now.
