Item Description
Alpine localities are well known for producing attractive feldspar specimens, but there are a few "Alpine-type" localities in the mountains of Pakistan that produce some great specimens in their own right. Microcline is not commonly associated with metamorphic deposits such as those in the Alps, but this piece is a fine quality example of a metamorphic Microcline. This specimen hosts a big, gemmy to translucent, off-white/colorless, blocky, lustrous crystal of Microcline. This is what I would call gem quality Feldspar, with good luster, and a slight internal iridescence when rotated in the light. A great specimen of this contemporary classic material. Aside from the European Alps, Pakistan is the only locality that I can think of which produces these attracitve Feldspars. From the dealer stock of Herb Obodda, valued at $1800.
