Item Description
A very hard to find specimen of Miargyrite from the lesser-known Santa Cecilia Mine in Spain. This is the only piece of this material that we've had to offer in the auctions. Miargyrite is a rare silver sulfosalt species, and one of the few "ruby silver" minerals in the world. It's rarer than Pyrargyrite, and arguably just as rare as Proustite. This piece is a fairly solid mass of dark silvery-black Miargyrite, but if you look closely, you can see some defined crystal faces with bright metallic reflective faces and notable striations. The crystals only measure a few mm, but they're sharp and well-formed. A very rarely seen example of this elusive silver mineral.
Ex Colin Manlove collection.
