Item Description
Miargyrite is one of the rare "ruby silvers", less common than Proustite or Pyrargyrite in my experience. It's chemically very similar to Pyrargyrite as they are both silver antimony sulfosalts, but Miargyrite is monoclinic and Pyrargyrite is trigonal. This piece is from the only locality in British Columbia where Miargyrite is reported. It features sharp, lustrous, metallic crystals that show a beautiful blood red color when backlit. Minor silvery-grey colored Acanthite or native Silver (?) can be seen on the piece as well. Very hard to find on the market, and a great pickup for a silver species collector, a sulfosalt collector or a Canadian mineral collector.
