Item Description

An incredibly rare specimen of the potassium iron hydroxy phosphate Meurigite, from what is arguably the best known locality for the species. Originally, this species was discovered at the Chino Pit in New Mexico in 1995 and was named after John Meurig Thomas, who is a prolific reasearcher and crystal chemist. It was simply named Meurigite, but was renamed Meurigite-K in 2009. This is a good example of Meurigite-K featuring the typically soft yellow radial groups on matrix that are well documented from Teskov. This is one of only a handful of pieces of this species that we've seen, and comes with a classic label from Josef Vajdak / Pequa Rare Minerals, which immediately increases the value.
