Item Description
A sculptural meteorite from the famous Canyon Diablo meteorite, now officially named "Meteor Crater" for the nearest post office in Meteor, Arizona. The crater is named the Barringer Crater in honor of Daniel Barringer who was first to suggest that it was produced by meteorite impact. The meteorite fall took place about 50,000 years ago. It is classified as a coarse iron octahedrite. The piece displays well without aid. 125 grams. I have seen these for sale in gift shops for $30-50 per gram. this is from an old mineral collection
