Item Description

Here we have an incredibly hard to find specimen of Metatorbernite from the famed Chuquicamata Mine in Chile. It's the ONLY example we've ever seen from this giant copper deposit. This miniature sized piece hosts micro crystals of strong green colored, platy Metatorbernite, some of which have formed rarely seen, attractive "rose"-esque aggregates on matrix. We've photographed the piece with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality.
This piece comes from the collection of John Dagenais (#JD-800), a collector from the Pacific Northwest. John started collecting in 1969 and progressed to micromounting, and later built suites of specimens from the Chuquicamata Mine in Chile, the Tsumeb Mine in Namibia, the Majuba Hill Mine in Nevada, the Black Pine Mine in Montana and the Tintic District in Utah, among other places.
