Item Description
Lustrous neon-green Metatorbernite plates fill the elongated vug in the sculptural small cabinet matrix on this rich and colorful specimen from the famous Musonoi Mine. The plates reach up to 6 mm. This open pit Cu-Co-U deposit is famous for copper uranyl species. The label lists this as Torbernite, but is most likely Metatorbernite (dehydrated Torbernite), as nearly all such pieces are. See the fine 2018 Mineralogical Record article in Vol. 49, No. 2. Specimens of this richness and quality came out in the 1960s to 1980s. They were considered "old classics" by the 1990s.
