Metasideronatrite (incredibly rare)

Item Description

This is the ONLY specimen of Metasideronatrite that we've ever had to offer from this locality. This incredibly rare hydrated sodium iron hydroxy sulfate species is incredibly difficult to find from the Chuquicamata Mine in Chile. The species was first discovered at the nearby Sierra Gorda Mine, and the entry on mindat.org states that it, "reversibly rehydrates to sideronatrite depending on relative humidity and exposure to sunlight". This piece is filled with beautiful orange color, crystallized radiating aggregates on matrix. The crystals look best under magnification, and we've taken some micro photos to better illustrate the quality. A very desirable specimen for anybody who collects sulfate minerals, rarities or specimens from the famed Chuquicamata Mine. You're not likely to see another one of these again anytime soon.
