Item Description

Mendipite is an extremely rare halide species, which were named after the site of the original discovery in the Mendip Hills of Somerset, England. This small cabinet specimen hosts pale pinkish-white colored, layered / parallel growth crystals of Mendipite associated with grey-brown Calcite. The piece has a bit of heft to it, heavier than others I've handled from this locality of equal size, possibly there is some Galena present? A great rarity for any fan of minerals from the UK or just worldwide rare species. The Mendipite fluoresces a light yellow color under LW UV light (see video), but under SW UV light (not pictured), there is a bright pink fluorescence from the Calcite.
