Item Description

A vein of pearly luster, stacked/columnar stair-stepped white to pink mendipite lathes is visibile on both sides of the matrix wedge on this showy miniature from the Type Locality area in Somerset. Mendipite is a rare Pb-oxyhalide and this is a fine example from this well-known limestone quarry. The mendipite vein is nicely encased in a vein of manganese oxides. Classic and excellent material from the David Burgess Collection.
