Item Description
Melanophlogite is a very rare organic silica discovered in Sicily in 1876. This rich and showy combination piece is from near the Type Locality. Two vuggy faces are totally lined with very sparkly, tan to light brown, melanophlogite crystals. Fluorescent pink aragonite underlies the vugs and the matrix is shot through with sulfur. A very rare, rich and excellent, older combination piece from this well-known locale.
