Melanophlogite (rare) on Sulfur (Mullane Coll.)

Item Description

Melanophlogite is a very rare organic silica discovered in Sicily in 1876. This rich and showy combination piece is from near the Type Locality. The knobby vug face is totally covered with very sparkly, translucent, tan melanophlogite crystals. A thin crust of sulfur lies in front and underlies the crystals. A very rare, very rich and excellent, older combination piece from this well-known locale from the Dennis Mullane Collection.
