Melanite

Melanite is a Titanium-rich variety of Andradite Garnet, and is not often faceted into stones because it's opaque. This gem is a rarely seen stone which is completely opaque, but it is well cut with an attractive "Round Brilliant" cut. The stone is from an undisclosed locality in Mexico, but it's a great rare stone for a collector.
