Meionite (var: Ersbyite) (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

Here we have a thumbnail specimen of Meionite Scapolite from what according to the label was a locality called Ersby in Pargas, but is now simply Pargas in Finland. The material apparently earned its own varietal name back in the day as the label refers to it as "Ersbyite". The central vug on thie piece features very small, pale yellow color tetragonal crystals of with minor black octahedral crystals of Magnetite plus Calcite on matrix. The piece looks nice under magnficiation. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9086). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
