Item Description
Scapolite is a group name for a few mineral species (the most well-known are Meionite and Marialite), which are almost always seen in either yellow or purple colored crystals. These two crystals from Ohn-bin-ywe-htwet (the Coconut Tree Mine) exhibit a notably RARE PINK color, which I cannot recall seeing from anywhere outside of Myanmar. Both crystals are somewhat crude in their form, but they are both remarkably gemmy, virtually water clear and show a defined pink hue inside. The color is best seen when looking down the "c" axis, and the pleochroism of Scapolite (Meionite) is strongest that direction. These crystals came from a find in 2003, and all but disappeared from the market, as virtually nothing has been seen since. If you collect gem crystals, or specifically Scapolites from around the world, do not miss out on your chance to get your hands on a fantastic 2-crystal of these rarely seen piece from this fairly obscure locality. Total weight of both crystals is 19.42 grams. Valued $1,500 together for the quality, rare color and obscurity on the market.
