Item Description
An exceptional and aesthetic, 3.3 cm radial spray of lustrous, bronzy-brown ultra-rare mcgovernite blades, which are unique in the world to the famous Sterling Mine. Mcgovernite is a very rare complex arsenate and is also the mineral species with the largest number of atoms in the unit cell. This specimen is extremely rare and exceptional, in that the species usually occurs as thin coatings or as bunched plates. The striking stellate spray rests on a classic Sterling Mine matrix of massive calcite (rich red) with black franklinite crystals and brown (neon-green) willemite crystals. Classic, VERY RARE in this quality and highly desirable combination material from the Ted Bartels Collection and comes with a with a Gerstmann's label, well-known Franklin collectors and dealers, dating from the early 1960s to 1980. A true MUST for the locality or species collector!
