A superb and aesthetic gem matrix Herkimer quartz "diamond". A striking, facet-like, 4.0 cm, doubly terminated crystal is dramatically perched atop the sculptural matrix shard. This outstanding water-clear, glassy crystal has only a minimal amount of interior veils, which are certainly only a modest detraction. Matrix specimens of this quality are VERY difficult to obtain, as the crystals commonly break off of the hard silicified matrix. The crystal is pristine. A contact on one side, where another crystal once lay, has no damage, per se. A killer matrix Herkimer quartz valued at $1000-1500.
