Matioliite (exceedingly rare)

Item Description

Here we have an exceedingly rare specimen of the hydrated sodium magnesium aluminum phosphate, Matioliite. This mineral has only been found in four localities worldwide, but THIS piece is from the type locality in Brazil and comes to us directly from the personal collection of Paulo Matioli. Small areas of vivid blue Matioliite to 1-2 mm are associated with soft beige-yellow colored Crandallite on blocky white Albite matrix. We have photographed the tiny Matioliites with a macro lens to better illustrate the quality. This is a great piece for the species from the man who found the whole lot of them. Described in 2005, few have ever been for sale.
