Martite (Hematite pseudomorph after Magnetite) (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

An odd specimen from an undisclosed locality in Norway featuring an 8 mm crystal of "Martite" (Hematite pseudomorph after Magnetite) sitting among yellow green Serpentine plus white Talc on matrix. You can see a layer of black Martite near the base of the specimen, but the main crystal is the focus. No further information is given, so if anybody out there has any info as to specifically where this might be from, please let us know. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#6634). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
