Item Description

A sculptural tapered marcasite specimen with unusual crystal form from this well-known old coal mine. Most marcasite specimens featured in the MINDAT photo gallery for the locale have striking, very sharp triangular parallel-growth crystals. This interesting piece consists of intergrown nodules of lustrous bronzy/brassy crystals. The attachments on both sides of the doubly terminated nodule have embedded sand. Uncommon and showy marcasite from the Dr. Barratt Phillips Collection.
