Item Description
VERY RARE and impressive large marcasite stalactite from the limestone (chalk) quarries in the area. The lower two-thirds of the nubby, 360-degree stalactite are covered with sparkly, brassy, microcrystalline marcasite crystals. The upper third and termination have a secondary overgrowth matte marcasite. Complete all-around and essentially pristine. Out-of-sight contacts at the base, where other crystals once lay, have trivial bruising. Most marcasites from here are either nodules or floater crystal clusters. From a German collection. A striking large marcasite stalactite from the locale.
