Item Description
A really interesting and rarely seen replacement of metallic silvery-golden colored sparkling Marcasite after scalenohedral Calcite from Charcas. You could label this piece as a pseudomorph and/or a cast, as you can see that there is a broken area which reveals the Calcite has completely dissolved away, leaving a hollow opening. Very attractive up close, and the piece is complete on the back. You almost never see these on the market these days. The label accompanying the piece states it was once part of the collections of Dr. Barratt L. Phillips and Erik Rose.
