Item Description

A beautiful specimen of classic, soft brassy colored "cockscomb"-shaped crystals of Marcasite associated with gemmy "Ruby Jack" reddish-brown Sphalerite from the famous Picher Field in the Tri-State District. The largest Sphalerite measures 1.2 cm across. Very little damage and quite showy. Good quality and definitely worth picking up if you collect Tri-State minerals. This piece comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). The piece comes with one of the famous 3x5 index cards that states the specimen was personally collected by Wulff.
