Marcasite cockscombs (Meieran Coll.)

Item Description

A classic and aesthetic specimen of very sharp, lustrous, brassy, marcasite "cockscomb" crystal clusters. Old-time, uncomonn and excellent material from the Joplin Field portion of the Tri-State District. Fine, robust examples of this classic are hard to come by today, and many have decayed from being stored in high-humidity environs. This one, though, is remarkably intact. Ex Gene Meieran sulfide collection. Gene assembled a world-class sulfide collection and this is an outstanding example.
