Item Description

Well-crystallized Marcasite specimens are rather difficult to obtain from any locality, and the lesser known peices from Vintirov are some of the most impressive European Marcasites around. It's a little-known fact that these are some of the most stable Marcasite specimens in the world, meaning that the don't crumble and fall apart like Marcasite from other world localities. Here we have a classic and fine cluster of pale golden to soft brassy color, very sharp, highly lustrous, Marcasite crystal plates forming multiple "cockscomb"-shaped groups and essentially a "floater" with no notable point of attachment. This is really an excellent Marcasite specimen from this famous locale from the world famous European mineral collection of Richard A. Kosnar. Valued at $600.
