Marcasite (classic material)

Item Description

A beautiful old-time specimen of these classic and iconic Marcasite from Sokolov. These pieces can sometimes be a bit fragile and can crumble apart, but this one has been stabilized (as noted on the label) to preserve it. This miniature specimen is a fine group of sharp, well-formed, light brassy color bladed crystals, with no matrix. The piece is crystallized on both sides and presents nicely from either direction. Rock's label states that he obtained the piece from the Filers, "when we bought out their old inventory".
From the collection of the beloved mineral dealer and collector Rock H. Currier (1940-2015) who was the long-time owner of Jewel Tunnel Imports. Rock travelled the world in search of mineral specimens, and built and impressive collection over his lifetime. He was one of the more colorful and unforgettable figures in the mineral world.
