Manganvesuvianite (Type Locality) & Oyelite ex. Owen

Item Description

RARE and very showy miniature combination from one of the famous N'Chwaning mines. The sculptural 360-degree piece hosts lustrous, partially translucent, deep reddish-brown, tetragonal, elongated crystals and crystal sections of rare Manganvesuvianite on all sides. The dominating large crystal on the front is 2.3 cm long. The crystals rest on the blocky matrix of intergrown, glassy, translucent, tabular Baryte crystals. Some of the baryte crystals are coated with snow-white Oyelite, a RARE hydrated borosilicate. The N'Chwaning II Mine is the Type Locality for Manganvesuvianite and the species was approved in 2002.
