Manganoan smithsonite is one of the very rarest and most desirable varietals from the famed Tsumeb Mine. The pink color here is NOT caused by cobalt, but by manganse. this was found in ONE POCKET in the 1980s, and few are seen today. The crystal shape and color is completely stereotypical of this pocket. This super miniature is composed of killer sharp crystals of gemmy, shimmering, rich rose-pink colored rhombs. The back side is composed solidly of oxide-coated rhombs. RARE and outstanding Tsumeb. Seldom available in this quality. Ex Wes Parker Collection. Valued $500.
