Manganoan Calcite with Quartz (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

A gorgeous near competition quality thumbnail specimen featuring a group of steep, sharp, translucent soft pink colored (manganese-bearing) crystals of Calcite which are elegantly studded with sparkling, razor-sharp, bipyramidal Quartz crystals. The piece is essentially damage free all the way around, but there is a tiny contact on the bottom edge of the display side that keeps it from being 100% pristine. The top of the specimen is undamaged and beautiful. As a matter of fact, the piece displays beautifully from all sides! Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#11419). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
