Item Description
A rare and outstanding large calcite from the Nikolaevskiy Mine. "Wet-look", translucent, pretty pastel-pink, manganoan calcite rhombs with CURVED faces are richly sprinkled with blocky, translucent, near-colorless manganoan calcite rhombs. The sculptural, undulating quality of this piece is dramatic. Specimens of this variety and form were only available for a short time in the early 1990s and this is the very best large piece we have seen from anywhere. Two colors of fluorescence here: bright orange-pink with the large rhombs; and subtle pink with the smaller crystals. Specimens of this top quality and rare variety help to define Dal"negorsk as one of the great calcite producing localities on earth. Ex Dr. Ed David Collection. Valued at $2500. This piece is a must for the calcite or locality collector.
