Calcite is EXTREMELY RARE from any of the numerous Gunnison County localites listed by MINDAT. There are no photos in the MINDAT gallery. This sculptural 3-dimensional piece is composed solidly of nubby rounded trigonal aggregates of lustrous, translucent, light pastel-pink manganoan calcite rhombs. It is from an unknown County locality. From an East Coast collection and comes with a faded and water-stained century-old label. NEON-ORANGE fluorescence! Rare, perhaps UNIQUE Gunninson County manganoan calcite. A MUST for the species or Colorado collector!
