Item Description
Purple (manganoan) adamite is one of the three Holy Grail species from Mina Ojuela, along with legrandite and scorodite. The sculptural vug is filled with very pretty glassy crystals with purple tips and chisel terminations. There are more purple adamites in a smaller vug on the back of the sturdy gossan matrix. The Bob Trimingham label names this as cobaltoadamite, before it was determined to be manganese. His label also has a 1964 date. If correct, this is truly an OLD-TIME, very rare specimen of this material, as known material came from the famous one-time find in 1981. This piece is excellent and highly representative for this very desirable manganoan adamite species.
