Item Description

A VERY RARE and sculptural combination specimen from an obscure Wyoming locale in Albany County. MINDAT does not list hollandite for any Wyoming locale. Lustrous, sharp, black microcrystals of an unknown manganese oxide are peppered on the bubbly, botryoidal crust of grayish-blue drusy quartz. Psilomelane (hard manganese oxides) and botryoidal pyrolusite underlie the drusy quartz. Very rare older combination material from the Bob Trimingham Collection and formerly in the Charles Turner Collection (acquired in 1971). This mine could be in the Sheep Creek Area of Albany County if it is what we think it is. A must for the locality collector. Value?
