Item Description
Amazingly varied, sculptural, and lustrous cluster of intergrown Manganite crystals that reach 2.5 cm in length. The Manganites along the front of the specimen have terminations along the bottom front edge, and they grow back at about 45 degrees. The crystals are lustrous and silver-black, with many of the faces having a rich velvety black similar to Psilomelane. Along the back, the crystals grow vertically, and you can see their fine, rounded terminations rise above the front crystals. If you look at the back, you can see the sides of the vertical crystals. Quite attractive, and much more so in person, especially with three different views provided. Surprisingly, actual Manganite crystals are quite rare from the Kalahari Manganese Field, I know not why. Other than in Charlie's collection, I have not seen many for sale, either. valued $1000-1250
