Manganite (ex Rich Kosnar and Pat Gross collections)

Item Description

This specimen hosts a small (micro), sharp, rather lustrous, single crystal of black Manganite from the famous Buckwheat Pit in Franklin. I cannot be 100% certain that this piece is indeed Manganite, but it is reported from Franklin (http://franklin-sterlinghill.com/palache/manganite.stm). I have photographed the crystal under the microscope, which is truly the best way to view it since the piece is a micro specimen. Ffrom the Rich Kosnar collection, who obtained it from noted New Jersey collector, Pat Gross. The piece is still housed in Pat's original plastic micro box with her handwriting on it.
